Bennard Owusu is the Senior Partner/Principal of BWF Solicitors. Bennard qualified initially as a Barrister-At-Law in 1992 and continues to be member of Good Standing of the Ghana Bar Association. He converted to be a solicitor of England and Wales in 1999. He has over 26 years’ experience of practice in England having worked variously with Advice Centres and Law Firms since 1992. He is an active member of the Ghanaian Community with regular appearance on the radio and in the community talking about the law in practice.

Bennard is an Accredited Panel member of the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Law Accreditation Scheme. The Immigration and Asylum Law Accreditation Scheme covers all types of immigration and asylum law work. Members will have shown, to the satisfaction of the Law Society, that they have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of immigration and asylum law, be that in private practice or working for an

Bennard has assisted individuals and companies navigate their way successfully through the complex process of applying for work permits, family dependant visas, naturalisation/citizenship, and indefinite leave to remain/permanent residence. Bennard has advised or assisted individuals or organisations whether applying for a visa or a work permit for the first time or appealing a refused application. Bennard has exceptional skills, experience, insight and strategic solutions for all Immigration challenges.

Bennard is also an Accredited Panel member of the Law Society Family Law Panel. The Family Law Accreditation Scheme covers all types of family law work. Members will have shown, to the satisfaction of the Law Society, that they have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of family law.

Bennard deals with all areas of family law including:

  • Divorce, judicial separation, civil partnership disputes;
  • Financial and property disputes between partners, following breakdown of a marriage;
  • Financial and property disputes between cohabitants;
  • Disputes over children, such as residence, contact, prohibited steps, specific issue orders;
  • Injunction orders and other protection for victims of domestic abuse;

Bennard is also a member of Resolution. Members are family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Members follow a code of Practice that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems. Bennard has acted as Ghanaian Law Expert in court cases up to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and has advised lawyers, Local Authorities and the Office of The Official Solicitors on aspects of Ghanaian Law, especially, Customary Law, Usages and Practices, Marriages, Divorces, placement of Children and Reciprocal Agreements etc.
